Simon Says "Cold"
My name is Simon Plummer. I'm 65 years old and happily married to my wonderful wife, Yvonne.
Home for us is a small corner of the world in Suffolk. It's my own little piece of heaven, surrounded by grass, trees, and free-roaming wildlife—including my regular visitor, Philip the pheasant, who's always on the lookout for his next meal.
It's here that you'll find my plunge pool, small swimming pool, and the gentle sound of the pumps quietly filtering the water—a place where I can relax, recharge, and enjoy nature.
I don't really like the term health nut because I still enjoy the occasional ice cream and a good pudding. Instead, I believe in balance. I try to make thoughtful choices every day, understanding that small, consistent habits can make a real difference.
Beetroot juice, ginger shots, and wheatgrass are all part of my daily routine because I believe in giving my body the best chance to stay healthy.
I'm also a firm believer in the power of positive thinking. Through years of reading, research, and personal experience, I've come to appreciate the incredible connection between the mind and the body.
While our physical health is important, I believe our mindset often plays an equally powerful role in how we feel, how we recover, and how we live our lives.
Through Simon Says Cold, I'd like to share what I've learned, encourage others to explore the benefits of cold water therapy safely, and hopefully inspire people to take small steps towards a healthier, happier life.
Background & Life Experience
An Eye for Opportunity
I've always enjoyed business and looking for new opportunities. Back in 1996, I recognised the potential of a technology that was just beginning to change the world—mobile phones.
At the time, our core business was commercial vehicle bodybuilding, manufacturing everything from box vans to tipper bodies - Estabished in 1966. It was skilled, hands-on work, but I could see that mobile communications were going to become an essential part of business vehicles.
That meant taking a calculated risk. Developing mobile phone consoles for commercial and private vehicles required fresh thinking, innovative design, and countless hours of refinement. It was a completely different challenge from traditional vehicle manufacturing, but I believed the technology was here to stay and worth investing in.
The decision proved to be the right one. Our products were supplied to dealerships and businesses throughout the UK and eventually reached customers as far away as Australia, including work associated with major manufacturers such as BMW.
Looking back, I'm proud that we embraced new technology before it became the norm. It reinforced something I've believed ever since: progress comes from being willing to learn, adapt, and have the confidence to try something new.

My Brush with Death
People often say you don't truly appreciate life until you've come close to losing it. That became a reality for me in 2009.
While working in my garden and cutting back some tall trees, I accidentally made contact with a nearby electricity pylon and received an electric shock of more than 11,000 volts.
Remarkably, I survived. Although I was left with some physical scars, the experience changed my outlook on life forever. Surviving an electrical shock of that magnitude is incredibly rare, and I know just how fortunate I was.
Since that day, I've tried to make the most of every opportunity, appreciate the simple things in life, and never take another day for granted. That experience also strengthened my interest in health, wellbeing, and doing everything I can to look after both my body and my mind.

There's More to Me Than Cold Water
People often know me for cold water therapy, but there's another side to me too.
Thanks to my daily stretching routine, I can still perform the splits—a skill that has earned me the nickname "Simon Splits!" It's become a favourite party piece, and I've found myself doing it in some very unusual places over the years.
I believe staying healthy doesn't have to be serious all the time. A good sense of humour, a bit of flexibility, and enjoying life are just as important as looking after your body.

Always Looking for a Better Way
I've always enjoyed solving problems. Whether it's developing a completely new product like Visionary Power or finding a simple solution to an everyday challenge, I love turning ideas into reality.
Take my feathered friend, Philip the pheasant. He visits my garden every day, and I didn't like the thought of him going hungry whenever I was away from home.
So I came up with a solution. Using an automatic electric cat feeder, a few simple modifications, a length of pipe, and a mounting on my garden shed, I created a remote feeding system. Now, wherever I am in the world, I can use an app on my phone to make sure Philip never misses a meal.
Some people might think that's a little unusual—but I simply see it as another problem solved!
